1951: Inauguration of a fastener factory for the future

New fastener factory raises the bar on workplace standards

The modern factory building replaced an inefficient collection of 12 separate production buildings that had accumulated over the years. The new factory included purpose-built environments for material storage, lubrication, drawing, straightening, cutting, cold-heading, thread rolling, quality control and packaging — with the wire being delivered to the north entrance of the factory and boxed fasteners leaving from the south. The latest machinery, including presses and hot-forging machines, were installed.

The state-of-the-art facility established new workplace standards for ventilation, natural light and general working conditions. Representing the modernization of the company, the new premises were designed with a clear focus on employee well-being. This commitment to employees was greatly appreciated by workers at the time and is something that continues in BUMAX to this day.

The Åshammar factory has been modernized over the years and continues to be a globally respected center for precision stainless steel fastener manufacturing and innovation.
